As 2023 comes to a close, I like to look back on the last 365 days and reflect back on my business. The people that I have met, where my business has taken me, my accomplishments, my growth, and my struggles. I had to make some scary changes in 2023, and I will be tweaking things and setting some high goals for 2024.
In 2023, I steered away from newborns and weddings. Instead I decided to focus on families and high school seniors. High school seniors are hands down my favorite client, my primary love as a photographer. Why? Maybe it's because I have children that are teenagers (one being a senior), but I feel like I can relate to them. They are excited and generally happy to be there. They like to have fun with their shoots and get creative. Their personality shines through and that is what I love to capture.
I curated images of my high school seniors that have been taken over the course of 2023 that I am most PROUD of. The process of choosing took me several hours, but was so fulfilling to see the work that I've created over the year, and see my growth.
What makes these images the the Best of 2023 Seniors? What makes these images my favorite? It's not that they are technically beautiful but it could be the angle, the location, the colors, the weather, the lighting. Maybe it was a difficult shoot with harsh lighting, or maybe I just captured the essence of the senior perfectly and what is true to them.

No, it is not too early to start thinking about your senior year, when you want your senior photos taken, and most importantly who you want to take them. Not every photographer is going to be for you. Photographers have different styles and different editing. You should be researching your area now to see what your options are and to start looking at their work so you can find someone who is a good fit for you.
